Fanatec CSR Rim Input Wanted

Fanatec is getting closer to release their ClubSport Wheel range that will come with interchangeable wheel rims among plenty of other features.

Following the pricing announcement of the base and the first two rims (the BMW GT2 & Formula rims), Fanatec is now asking the community for ideas regarding future wheel rims.

So far, the following rims are being planned:

  • BMW GT2
  • FORMULA
  • NASCAR
  • Classic (wood)
  • Classic F1
  • F1 licensed
  • F1 generic
  • LMP1
  • Drift
  • Rallye
  • Porsche GT
  • Simrace special (not realistic but optimized for performance)

This is just a rough order that doesn’t indicate any production priorities. To make these rims a success, Fanatec is looking for input from the community is looking for opinions regarding aspects such as:

  • Amount of buttons
  • Amount of shifter paddles (analog and/or buttons)
  • Material of rim
  • Material and colours of the inner rim
  • Diameter
  • Weight
  • Target price

Fanatec ClubSport Wheel Series Pricing

Fanatec has confirmed the retail prices for their much-anticipated ClubSport Wheel Series that will give sim racers access to professional-grade sim racing hardware.

The series consists of the ClubSport Wheel base that is already used on the critically-acclaimed CSR Elite wheel, the base can be combined with various wheel rims, the first of which are the Formula rim and the BMW-licensed GT2 rim.

Prices
- ClubSport Wheel Base: 449,95
- BMW GT2 rim: 249,95
- Formula rim: 179,95

These prices are both in Euro (including VAT) and US Dollars (not including sales tax). Pricing for Australia & Japan will be announced later.

His extensive video review doesn’t just review the pedals, he also compares them to two other popular models – It’s bigger brother, the Clubsport pedals as well as the Logitech G25 pedal set.

Fanatec CSR Elite Wheel Benchmarks

The Fanatec Wheel Fansite has published detailed benchmarks of the new wheel, comparing it to its closest competitors from Fanatec, Thrustmaster & Logitech.

The benchmarks have been made by using the iRacing Force Feedback Test software

The CSR Elite is primarily aimed at console users, being compatible to both the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360 and offering most of the pro features the Clubsport wheel will offer.

Fanatec – CSR Elite Production Started

Following the successful launch of the Forza Motorsport CSR Wheel, Fanatec is kicking into higher gear as the production of the CSR Elite wheel has officially been started.

The CSR Elite is the first Fanatec wheel to use the company’s all-new base that has been in development for over 1.5 years.

Unlike the CSR wheel base that will be launched later and is primarily aimed at PC users, the CSR Elite comes with Fanatec’s trademark cross-compatibility including Microsoft’s Xbox 360. 

Fanatec will be taking pre-orders for the CSR Elite once they´re ready to be shipped, the company hopes to have them ready in time for Christmas.

In related news, Fanatec is also pushing to expand their global reach as the company is currently busy setting up their Japan operation as Japanese sim racers will soon be able to order Fanatec’s line of hardware products.
